Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Conservation Award
The Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Conservation Award is given annually for significant contribution in the field of wildlife conservation which has made, or has the potential to make, a major impact on the protection and conservation of wildlife in the country. Two awards of Rupees One lakh are given to education and research institutions, organisations, forest and wildlife officers/research scholars or scientists/wildlife conservationists.

Conservation Award for the Year 2013
The Ministry of Environment & Forests invites nominations for the Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Conservation Award 2013. The award is given for significant contribution in the field of wildlife Conservation, which is recognized as having made or has the measurable potential and major impact on the protection and conservation of wildlife in the Country.
Nature of the Award
Two awards of Rs. 1,00,000/- each in cash, along with medallions, trophy and citations, will be given to:
a) Education and research institutions and organizations, and
b) Forests and Wildlife Officers/research scholars or scientists/wildlife conservationists.
Eligibility
Any recognized institution, individual or Government and forest staff of India engaged in scientific work/field work for the cause of protection and conservation of wildlife is eligible. There is no age limit. The term ‘Wildlife’ is interpreted in the broadest sense possible. The following is an illustrative, though not exhaustive, list of areas of work:
a) Outstanding scientific work/field work for preservation and conservation
of wildlife, especially the endangered species
b) Wildlife planning and Management
c) Control and checking of illegal poaching of wild animals and their products, protection of wildlife and human lives and property from wildlife, without harming wildlife
d) Awareness, motivation and extension work
e) Wildlife education, published literature and research
f) Eco-development planning and implementation
g) Captive breeding and Zoo management
Procedure of Submission of Nominations
Any citizen of India can recommend a name. The nominations must be accompanied by the following details alongwith detailed Bio-data (10 copies):
i. Name & address of the nominee
ii. Area of work
iii. Significant contributions made by the nominee
iv. Measurable impact or likely impact of the nominee’s work in the field of wildlife.
Nominations will be accepted in the Ministry within 60 days from the publication of the advertisement. The nomination, signed by the sponsors, along with the recommendation of the concerned Chief Wildlife Warden of the State/UT should be sent in a registered confidential cover marked as follows:
